On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Riyadh’s creative community gathered at Huna Al Takhassusi for The Art Majlis, also known as Majlis Al Fan, for a hands-on workshop presented by Rubaah and The Artist House. Hosted by Arbaaa Marketing, the event invited emerging artists, creatives, and art enthusiasts to reconsider what an artist’s portfolio can be. More than a collection of finished works, the portfolio was explored as a living archive of images, ideas, memories, observations, emotions, and personal taste.

The Art Majlis Brings Portfolio-Building Workshop to Riyadh’s Creative Community

A Majlis for Ideas, Memory, and Creative Practice

The Art Majlis was designed as an intimate learning and dialogue-based experience, bringing together artists and creatives in a setting rooted in conversation, reflection, and experimentation. The workshop asked a central question: what if every image saved, every idea noted, and every detail that catches the eye could become part of an artistic portfolio?

Through this lens, participants were encouraged to think beyond traditional portfolio-making and consider how daily experiences can shape a creative voice. The session explored how ideas begin, where inspiration comes from, and how personal encounters can become meaningful artistic material.

Inside The Portfolio Workshop

The workshop moved from discussion into a hands-on creative activity, where participants were invited to build their own artist portfolios using a mix of materials laid across the tables, from colored paper and fabric pieces to cutouts, pencils, glue, cards, and textured details. Rather than creating a conventional portfolio, each participant assembled a personal, portable piece that could be gathered, layered, and hung through a hook wherever they chose. The format encouraged them to think of the portfolio as something alive and close to their daily practice, not only a folder of completed works.

As they worked, participants reflected on the materials they selected and the memories, tastes, and emotions behind those choices. A piece of fabric, a certain color, a handwritten word, or a small paper form became a starting point for conversation about inspiration and identity. The activity gave physical shape to the workshop’s central idea: that an artist’s portfolio can begin with what they notice, collect, and feel. Through cutting, arranging, writing, and sharing, participants explored how everyday references can become part of a larger creative language.

Presented By Voices In The Creative Field

The workshop was presented by Lujain Al Duaij, Lama Al Mubarak, and Faten Al Dahham, who led the session through discussion, prompts, and creative exchange. Their approach reflected the spirit of the majlis itself: open, thoughtful, and rooted in shared experience. By creating space for participants to reflect on their own sources of inspiration, the workshop encouraged a more personal and intuitive relationship with artistic development.

The Art Majlis Brings Portfolio-Building Workshop to Riyadh’s Creative Community

Rubaah and The Artist House Create Space For Expression

Rubaah and The Artist House brought a shared belief in experimentation, dialogue, and creative growth to Art Majlis, aligning closely with KSA Art’s mission to support and spotlight Saudi Arabia’s evolving art community.

Through the workshop, both creative spaces helped transform the idea of an artist portfolio into something more personal and expressive. Together with KSA Art, they created an experience where artists could explore their inspirations, exchange ideas, and turn everyday observations into meaningful creative work.

Looking Ahead

As the Kingdom's art scene moves toward a future of professional innovation, the Art Majlis remains dedicated to ensuring that the human element of creativity is never lost.
